Minimal comfort but maximum fun. I haven’t met a single starry eyed traveller who doesn’t dream of owning one of these gems. The VW camper is an iconic representation of what is arguably the best generation of our century. Synonymous to the hippie revolution, it marks the age of good music, psychedelic substances and free spirited people. Today it serves as a home to the few who wander and explore like nomads. Living in modesty, at the heart of this camper is the ever exploring soul of a traveller. #VW #camper #campervan #travel #travelphotography #hippie #freedom #wales
What started as a love affair 3 odd weeks ago soon manifested itself into an obsession. Wales, finally a place in Great Britain that isn’t flat and is decorated with beautiful mountains. I had to return, I had to climb Snowdonia. Alone and unplanned I left Leeds in search for an adventure. Made it to Pen-y-pass on Monday an hour before midnight. From the window of the Youth hostel I could see the silhouette of what was to be my next fill-of-thrill. Here’s an advice FOC, if you’re a junky like me, take two minutes to read signboards or stop and ask for directions, could be the deciding factor between “fuck this shit” and “fuck that’s awesome”. Let me explain. Snowdonia is the highest peak in the region and it has two simple straight forward tourist trails, the “miners trail” and the “pyg trail”. Having done the scenic miners trail a few weeks ago, I started making my way to the top via the pyg. Beautiful, rocky, cold, misty and light rain. Miserable for some, near perfect for me. The trail climbs for a while before it flatlines and joins the miners trail for the final ascend. As I arrived at the junction, I had a simple choice to make, go down and then up again like normal people would or go up up and up. Up it is, logical move right ? Turns out, it’s not. For one, that’s a different mountain and it’s known for 12 deaths a year. Who knew? So I climb these unusually wet, icy cold rocks which are sharp around the edges only to be joined by two stranded civil engineers. With the point of no return long gone we decided to push to the top. Many sharp rocks and hours of climbing later, we were finally there, we made it to the top and oh boy the view was to die for, at some places, literally death was imminent. It soon became clear that the only way down wasn’t our way up but forward on a razor thin ridge. With a good 900ft drop on either side, I deployed all my rock climbing skills and every religious prayer I could recite. 5 hours of climbing, traversing, ridge crossing and confiding in two strangers, we made it down safe. So what did I learn from this experience? Nothing.. that was fuckin awesome, I wanna do that again with proper shoes and not steeltoes 😂
When you travel, not everyday will you get along with the person to your left or to your right. There will be days you just wish to be left alone. And then there are days where, being alone feels incomplete. As a motorcyclist, this was a dream, a milestone, an achievement. But, as a person, this was an awakening ! #khardungla #highestmotorableroad #leh #royalenfield #thunderbird #ride
Yeah.. it’s true! Another tick to the bucket list has been made. While this sabbatical from motorcycling has been long, it has given me time to make these things happen. Odd jobs, internships, consultation, whatever the means to an end, I took it. Presenting my newest addition, the #arai #ChaserV and it awaits the wind !! #timetoride
There are very few things that make me so happy that I am physically unable to suppress my happiness. Definitely the thought of being back on a motorcycle after a year is one of them. I know.. I know, I won’t be riding one until a few months from now and for certain this happiness may seem premature to most, but the simple thought of being in riding gear stimulates the eagerness to have that day come soon. For me there is nothing more self satisfying than the feel of a motorcycle below my bum, the vibrations under my feet and the sense of power under my right palm. I’m giddy like a child around motorcycles. Being able to ride one, I am finally me ! So this is me feeling pure happiness after a long time. For those who stand true to criticise my every move, I know they don’t understand it, why would they? They have never lived for motorcycles and the freedom it brings like I have. And for those who understand the purity of this desire and lust for happiness, I know you’ll smile at my silliness .. you’ve done it too :)
As the time to return to motorcycles approaches, a new addition to my gear arsenal has been made. Adventure touring is an extension of my alter ego and with my new adventure series, Montreal 2.0 jacket and pants from @oxfordproducts will only fuel the fire. The fit of the jacket is perfect, the armours sit nicely on my shoulder and around my elbows. The little bits and bobs like zippers, the rubber and the stitch feel top notch. In fact the fit is so good, I’m currently typing this while wearing it belly down on the sofa and I’m comfy. Being an adventure/touring jacket you’d expect body melting heat but the jacket remains wonderfully vented while maintaining a comfortable warmth all throughout. The pants are just as good as the jacket. With an optional suspenders helping them stay up around my hip, moving about in these are surprisingly easy. The smallest size available from the retailer was size Small and it accommodates a standard 32” waistline. It’s a size over for me but here is where the suspenders double up their duty. Owing to extra room, I reckon I could comfortably squeeze in a pair of pants under these! Overall feedback... fuck yeah, let’s get them out on the road and dirty!!! #motorcycle #motorcyclegear #motorcyclesofinstagram
This one... it's a love-hate ballet, an orchestra of emotions playing the theme song to life as we know it !
