I have been watching with such awe as people across America have rushed to support our friends in Houston and communities along the Gulf Coast. This response represents the very best of who we are and what this country is about. In times of tragedy, as we lean on each other and come together as one American family to help our neighbors recover and rebuild, we are reminded of how much we all need each other. From those who have generously donated time and money, to the countless heroes who have risked their lives to save others, to @barackobama and our former presidents uniting to rally support, thank you for standing together. Getting to-and through-college isn’t easy, and I want the amazing DC students I met today to know that I am so proud of you for beating the odds and getting the education you need and deserve. I want you to always remember that your hard work and determination got you to college, and you deserve to be there. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Just keep going to class, working hard, and asking for help when you need it. Never stop reaching higher, and never give up! #BetterMakeRoom
When I was at the White House, I often hosted bootcamp weekends for my close girlfriends. It didn’t matter that we were all at varying fitness levels. Our bootcamp weekends were a reminder that if we want to keep taking care of others, we need to take care of ourselves first. And even though I’m no longer at the White House, I've continued this tradition and wanted to share some photos. My girlfriends have been there for me through all kinds of life transitions over the years – including a pretty big one recently! – and we’ve done our best to stay healthy together. Whether it’s a bootcamp or a walk around the neighborhood, I hope you and your crew can find some time this summer to be healthy together.
