Jewellery, dress, attitude. Especially thoughtful design point is the collar that doubles as a neck rest. Awesome travel outfit.

Handcrafted one of a kind earrings in 22k and lovely Kyanite, cut and polished by yours truly. In my opinion, blues and greens should always be seen, preferably together and preferably with gold. 💙💚💛💙💙💚💛💙💚💛💚💛 💙💚💛 #vixjewellery #vixjewelleryatelier #vixjewellerylapidary #vixlapidary #kyanite #22k #22kgd #oneofakindearrings #inspireddesign #jewelleryartisan #jewellerydesigner #artisanjewellery #artisanjewelry #bluesandgreensshouldalwaysbeseen #madebyvix #handcraftedjewellery #goldsmithing #goldsmith #uniqueandunusual #uniquejewellery #uniquejewelry #joyeria #gioelli

Hewn out of solid Amethyst. Lapidary Tuesday. Something fishy goin’ on ... from the VIX Jewellery atelier. Work in progress ... watch this space
Today is all about chain-making and sheet-sawing ... laborious, but I am listening to Dark Emu, and learning much more about the Australian Aboriginal history of agriculture. As an immigrant’s kid who grew up in inner city Sydney, I have always loved, appreciated and respected the culture, the people, the bush, the rainforest, the outback and their Dreaming stories. As a well known admirer of ancient art, theirs is high on my list.
Hearts of glass ... jewel colours ... voluptuous forms ... new ideas 💙💚💜🖤🧡❤️ Blame St Valentine
Workin’ ... Getting back to my roots ... it was a choice between casting or sawing. In an erratic moment, I chose to sand cast this piece, fail. I sent it to the professional casters, fail. I drew the line at CAD. My piece would have lost its soul down that rabbit hole. I was reliably informed this week that a whopping 90% of jewellery producers use casting and CAD for their products. I guess this is the way of the modern world where everyone wants what everyone else has, stat! So, everyone wears the same, looks the same, sounds the same. Fast bucks, fast food, fast fixes, fast clothing, fast jewellery. But, you may have noticed that mass produced jewellery isn’t cheap, either, to (theoretically) reflect the economy of its production. I mean, why must I pay Le Cirque prices for McDonalds? 🤷♀️
Two of my my favourite things: fine jewellery and stump work embroidery. Been working in these two areas for decades and I have my own particular technique down flat. There were no cellphones, internet or social media when I started with these. But, I did have a certain notoriety and reputation in my school as the “artistic” girl. Girls lined up at my desk for me to make sketches in their project books. I was also known to embroider motifs on the odd white school shirt to cover up a stain. I collected vintage baubles, fabrics and buttons that I still have. Sadly, some fabulously beautiful things were lost to me, but that’s life, I guess, you win some you lose some 🤷♀️ Handcrafts were the best present ... plus an LP or something by Mattel, maybe) 💎All jewellery by VIX 🌼Embroidery by VIX
