Attention all sugar devotees!! My spring pastry classes are scheduled @sfcooking for Tuesday nights in March and a rare Saturday series in April. Let’s whip, pipe, glaze, and soak our way through a few of my favorite recipes in this 3-class series. I promise dinner, wine, laughing at me, and lots of geeky pastry science info. Join me! I’d love to have you in class. #pastrychef #pastryclasses #sfcooking #cookingschools #culinaryschool
The first one wasn’t at all what we expected when we saw “wasabi octopus” on the menu, but the scallop #yakitori and the #omakase were lovely. And I think my kids are finally starting to like sushi, since AJ drew a picture of the salmon avocado roll. Let’s hope! How two chefs ended up with a kid that only eat pizza is beyond me.
Holy man, that was bomb. My cousin @mskittymalotke sent me a kit to DIY a dozen #coneydog from #americanconeyisland in Detroit as my birthday present. @drewhashknives had three and I had a double plate of #chilicheesefries And to top off the calories, I got a case of Girl Scout cookies delivered to my door on the SAME DAY from my brother from another mother @cheffreyrose Thanks for the love, Michigan homies. It was worth every calorie. #foodthatmakesmehomesick #ineedadietnow
Every course was perfect. The portion, the preparation, the seasoning. Every single one. Without a doubt, one of the best meals in SF right now. 1. Foie brûlée 2. Octopus w/ Jchokes 3. Hamachi w/ citrus & olive 4. Pansotti 5. Tagliatelle with ragu and #truffles 6. Pork chop 6. Cocoa nib, CFraiche w/ sesame cake @sorrelrestaurant #sffood #fuckthatwasdelicious
Highlights from last night’s press dinner at @alderwoodsantacruz and @chefjeffreywall which was lovely and fun. 1. Cocktail hour 2. Tower of seafood with droppers of #mignonette and hot sauce 3. Meat fridge 4. Beef #tartare 5. Stack of miracle #onionrings that don’t slide out when bitten into and 6. Wheatberry #profiterol with chocolate sauce. Thanks for cooking on a Monday for us, Chef. Best of luck for your inevitable success of bringing good eats to Santa Cruz. #santacruzfood
Ended 2018 at the beach, grateful for many things but especially my health after a bit of a scare that turned out to be nothing. Started 2019 with a 2.5 hour mediation and yoga workshop from a semi-celebrity yogi that didn’t disappoint, including her soundtrack for the really sweaty part. My intentions for the year ahead: less time on this fucking phone, more time playing make-believe with my kids, and doing something everyday to honor the only body I’ll have in this lifetime. Happy New Year, my loves. Wishing you joy and presence. #gratitude #ganesha #removerofobstacles
First kindergarten performance and it’s in Spanish. My goal of having two bilingual children so we can spend months in Mexico and South America together has officially moved to phase two. Not pictured: Henry’s preschool conference where the teacher said he’s telling her “yo termino” after lunch. #spanishsongsforkids #ajhash
