Earlier in the year I told you about the @buccibrisbane Vacation Series when I visited to sample the flavours of Veneto. I went back at the end of last month for their current location - Calabria! Found at the bottom of the boot that is Italy, Calabria is known for seafood, citrus, and spicy spreadable sausage n’duja. Of course, everything was absolutely delicious (again!) and you can try for yourself at lunch for only $36 for three courses! They also have the option of one or two courses for even cheaper. Otherwise, why not book your spot at their next Sunday long lunch? You’ll get a glass of Prosecco and eight shared courses while enjoying live music for only $55! The next one is May 26 where you will be treated to dishes of Sicily.
Pop into @atelierbrasserie today for their Sunday brunch! I was invited to try most of the menu a few weeks ago and had such a lovely morning. If you’re lucky there might be a jazz band playing on the street like we had. Almost felt like we were in France! My pick of the bunch was the French toast. While I’m usually more of a savoury eater, the lemon labneh was incredible and combined with the berries made the perfect brunch dish. Don’t forget to order a brunch cocktail too! Pictures in order: - Bacon and spinach scone - Shakshuka - Zucchini fritters - French toast - Savoury stuffed crepes - Duo of sliders - Grilled flank steak
My favourite ramen in Melbourne is from @shopramen Although I haven’t tried them all, this would be hard to beat. The shoyu broth in the pork belly ramen is light and yet so flavourful. I added yuzu oil as well. The noodles are great and the pork belly itself is fall apart delicious. Their vegetarian options are fantastic too. And it’s impossible not to order a tasty little bun to start! My only regret is that I didn’t leave room for pie... yes, they have dessert pie too. Definitely found heaven.
I can’t get enough of Greek food lately so I was excited to cook some myself! Getting so close to the end of @mykitchenrules and I’ve loved cooking different and new meals each week thanks to @channel7queensland Dolmades have never been my favourite Greek dish, compared to saganaki or spanakopita or all the delicious grilled meats, it just didn’t do much for me. That was until I tried them with an avagolemono (egg lemon) dipping sauce at @nostimorestaurant and they were delicious so I decided to try it at home. I found a recipe for lamb dolmades on @gourmettraveller which turned out great! So I do in fact like dolmades! Although maybe still not quite as much as saganaki ❤️ I also made a simple but tasty Greek salad. This taste has made me even more excited for @paniyiri next month! I’m going to eat soooo much! What’s your favourite Greek dish?
Is there a better way to celebrate Sunday than brunch cocktails? @atelierbrasserie have a bunch to choose from including my favourite the Bloody Mary. You also can’t go wrong with their Pharmaceutical Stimulant, a buttery popcorn version of an espresso martini, or the L’Amour Brille with flavours of grapefruit and watermelon topped with sparkling rose and soda. Thanks @forkinggoodpr for having me along last weekend!
I have a twin sister who has been vegetarian for more than half of her life, whereas I eat pretty much everything. I was invited to try the Beyond Burgers at @ribsandburgers recently so I took my vego sister along with me. The review from both of us was the same. They are the closest thing we have tried to meat that isn’t meat, and they are super tasty! The colour, texture, and flavour was a really close match to a real beef burger. So whether you are a vegetarian or vegan who has been hanging out for a really good burger option that isn’t just a big mushroom or you are a curious meat eater who wants to test it for yourself - these are burgers you have to try!
Creme Brûlée has eggs in it, so that makes it a breakfast food. Right? To celebrate the recent birthday of @manufeildelofficial what better French dish to make than his very own recipe for Creme Brûlée? It was my first time making them at home but it really was ridiculously easy. I might start experimenting with different flavours next time! Turns out my girlfriend is a pro with the kitchen blowtorch too! . @mykitchenrules @channel7queensland #mkr
My diet for the past week has consisted mostly of toast while I’ve been home sick with a stomach virus. Today is the first day I’ve ventured back to work and I still can’t have any dairy or fatty foods. I wish @mrcrackles was in Brisbane because one of their bogan rolls would be the first thing I’d want to eat when I got better. It’s just stupidly delicious, it’s not even fair. Crispy and juicy pork, salty chips, cheese, and gravy on a soft roll - what’s not to love?!

I have tried ramen from @rising_sun_workshop once before and fell in love, so on a trip to Sydney earlier this year we returned to try their breakfast ramen. Never mind that it was 38 degrees that morning, every mouthful was worth it. Made of a buttered toast and bone broth, with bacon, egg, and tomato. It’s delicious! My only regret was that my girlfriend and I shared, this is definitely something to have all by yourself.
It’s Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day! Why not make something a little different than your standard pancake or pikelet and try a Dutch baby pancake instead? They are so easy! Preheat a small pan in a 220 degree oven until it’s super hot. Mix an egg with 1/4 milk and 1/4 cup plain flour and something to add extra flavour if you like, such as vanilla or cinnamon or nutmeg (I used nutmeg). It doesn’t matter if the mixture is a little lumpy. Melt a tablespoon of butter in the pan then pour in the pancake mixture. Cook in the oven for about 15 minutes until puffed up and golden. The pancake will deflate a little when you take it out of the oven. Top with whatever you like! I used bacon, maple syrup, blueberries, and icing sugar. Enjoy! #mkr @mykitchenrules @channel7queensland
I visited the @janpowersfarmersmarkets at Manly a couple of weeks ago and had some food from the Kitchen Thai stall there. So tasty and so filling! We had the moo tod (Thai pork jerky) with sticky rice which was different to anything I’d tried before but I’d love to try again because it was delicious! We also had the pad gra pow (stir fried chicken with basil and chilli) with rice and their special Thai meatballs covered in crispy noodles which were awesome! The markets are on again tomorrow so head down and check them out!
@vapianoaustralia have created my favourite midweek event ever with Drink Pink Wednesdays! From 5pm they serve $5 pink gin spritzers (yes $5!) with all proceeds going to @sharethedignityaustralia helping women who face homelessness, poverty and domestic violence in Australia. Pair your cocktails with some pizza, listen to old school tunes, and feel good! #drinkpinkwednesdays
@buccibrisbane are running a vacation series lunch offer where different regions of Italy are showcased in a delicious menu across each month. Right now you can taste the flavours of Veneto and I can confirm they are delicious! Each day you can get a main for $24, or two courses for $30, or three courses for $36. That has to be the best lunch deal in Brisbane! Then on Sundays they have a big family style lunch of eight shared dishes and a glass of Prosecco for $55! The salmon starter was a favourite at our table. When it came to mains I couldn’t decide, the pork cheeks were fall apart tender and the fish with lemon and parmesan was beautiful. My pick of dessert was the torrone and chocolate ice cream. Future regions this year will be Puglia, Calabria, Sicily, Tuscany, Sardinia, Liguria, Piedmont, and Lombardy. I can’t wait to try them all!
Last weekend I made this pretty @mykitchenrules cheesecake dessert. On the show it was all raspberry, but I mixed it up by making the most of the last of mango season too! I couldn’t get rid of the raspberries completely though, they are just too delicious. The raspberry compote really made it! This weekend I’ll be making gnocchi!
Happy Valentine’s Day! My very talented twin sister @bridgetbaking made these fruity marshmallow hearts for her friends this year. And being her twin means she doesn’t have a choice but to be friends with me! You should follow her to see the awesome cakes and other delicious treats she makes!
If you haven’t yet heard of the pork belly baklava from @nostimorestaurant where have you been?! I was invited to try it and many more of the menu items last month. It was all so delicious! @dtsirekas has created a fantastic menu bringing classic Greek flavours out of the tavernas and into modern dining. Pictured: - tarama dip & pita - pork belly baklava - haloumi filo - chicken souvlaki - zucchini & eggplant crisps
