Yesterday I graduated with my bachelors degree in business management specializing in Human Resources. I am overwhelmed with so many emotions as I look back on this journey. My senior year of high school I would cry almost every day after school so afraid for my future. My biggest dream was to graduate from a university but how could I achieve this being undocumented? This milestone represents so much more than obtaining a higher education. I have broken borders and stereotypes. I have opened new doors for my family and for other undocumented students just like me. This diploma represents a fight that is far from over and a promise that I will never stop fighting until we are all granted our basic human rights. I want to say thank you to God for making all this possible, to my entire family for always believing in me, my mom for all your advice, for holding me everyday after school when I cried and for all your sacrifices you’ve made so we could be in this country. My dad for making this experience possible, for working so hard so we could pay for every book, class and school event out of pocket. To David, for always pushing me when I doubted myself and loving me unconditionally. To my friends, for listening to my story and accepting me for who I am. To my ULHE fam, for being so powerful and resilient. For giving me strength to fight and not be afraid. You all are so incredibly special to me and I’m so happy I was able to share this day with you all. I love you guys so much ❤️ Here’s to the next chapter of my journey, I pray I may continue to be strong and remember that this fight is so much bigger than myself. 🎓🇲🇽✊🏼#UndocumentedAndUnafraid #SiSePudo #FirstGen #UndocuGrad #UCCS2018
